The Secret by Rhonda Byrne is taking
the world by storm! Its contents are compelling with some incredibly
powerful messages projected from within about the universal law of
attraction. But… does it work?
Does it matter? The Secret has incredibly positive messages in it – so at what level do we judge whether or not it works? If a person who has seen the DVD or read the book makes a conscious change to think more positive thoughts – it works for that person.
Does it matter? I firmly believe anything is possible – it’s just a matter of how to achieve it, and how much I really want it. If you believe something is true, it is for you. I believe the Law of Attraction works, when you know how to use it. Some of my recent experiences are prime examples of this so read on as I would like to share some with you…
In October 2006 I made a decision to find a coach that could guide me to reach higher levels than I was currently achieving. I needed someone who would help me stretch and move outside my comfort zone. During a trip to Waiheke Island in November, I met this person who subsequently became my coach and, with his guidance, goals I set spanning over a 10 year period now span over 3 years because of the mind expansion and personal growth I am experiencing.
One of my goals was to take my company, Choose the ‘Tude Ltd into Australia. My procrastination however saw me constantly taking one step forward and one step back with my goal hindered by excuses such as not knowing how to go about achieving this goal or whether it was the right step. There was also a big question in my mind about where we should be based.
Whilst studying NLP (Neuro-Linguistic Programming), I asked my trainer – Mark Klaassen from Communications Plus in Auckland, to take me through an exercise which could help me get clear on which location would suit best. At the end of this exercise, Mark asked me a question "What prevents you from going to Australia in the next month to find out if it’s right for you?” Despite the procrastination and potential excuses – "I’m too busy, that’s too quick, I can’t afford it…” I cleared my diary, booked a flight and went to Australia. Choose the ‘Tude Pty Ltd has now been formed!
As part of our expansion plans I have been searching for a web developer and internet marketer that could help me take my businesses to another level. I have experienced the law of attraction again. Over the last month I have received several phone calls from people saying "I’m not sure why I’ve called you – but I thought I should”. From those calls I have met some incredible people and potential business associates, two of which are web marketers and strategists.
I have several examples where I have focused on something and it has appeared in some way, shape or form. I’m sure if you think about it – you can come up with several examples too.
Does the Law of Attraction work? It has for me. Here are some things I have found useful.

Does the Law of Attraction work? It has for me. Here are some things I have found useful.
- Have clear goals.
- Know what your outcomes looks, feel, sound like, what you will be doing, seeing, saying, feeling when you have it.
- Act as if you already have it.
- Talk about it as though it is reality now.
- Be open to answers in different outfits.
- Listen to your intuition.
- Focus on it every day.
- Talk about it in the affirmative.
- Be grateful for every step towards it.
- Ask yourself daily what you can do to support it.
- Appreciate your progress.
- Seek out positive people.
These are only a handful of things you can do, but in this instance, these are the things I have found most useful.
One of the many key things I've learnt is to set yourself goals that stretch you – not what you think you can achieve – what you really want to achieve. By setting goals you think you can achieve your are limiting yourself to your current perception of reality.
Go for what you really want – beyond your current beliefs of what’s achievable, begin to act as if you’ve got it, and you’ll be amazed at the results you get.
The Law of Attraction has worked for me. I encourage you to learn how to use it too. There is no better time than now to do so as there are so many excellent seminars, books and resources available to teach you.
